I’m going to let you guys in on a little secret (which won’t be so secret anymore). D.A.T.E. Sneakers are my all time favorite sneaker brand I’ve EVER had/owned/purchased/admired/loved. When it comes to a somewhat classic shoe, my silver oxfords in my previous post are ones I don’t want to live without, as for sneakers this brand is my top choice. For any type of sneaker I want, from a classic one that’s simple to a bold one like these with a print and detailing, this brand is the winner.
It’s going to be difficult to find another sneaker brand that compares to D.A.T.E. for me as their selection of sneaks are impressive, since I find most of them intriguing and unique. If there’s anything I love most about a sneaker, it’s the individuality it brings to a look. That’s one reason I’m not the biggest fan of Converse or Vans because it appears almost every teen owns a pair. How boring! But, I admit those brands have created loads of different styles to contribute to a sense of individuality. I guess you can see them as classics, but for me I want something more original without being so different that I’m calling unnecessary attention to myself or trying too hard. It’s important to use your style as an inside look into your personality or personal taste, but it shouldn’t be the only thing defining you.
These shoes are definitely a good conversation starter in some cases, as most people around me have never seen them before. Unlike a pair of converse, D.A.T.E. sneakers have a uniqueness to them from the subtle details to the color choices, drawing attention to the artistic design while also being a functional sneaker. They’re WAY comfier than the two Converse shoes I once owned. Keds are an exception to this as I have a pair and also find them quite comfy, but these particular ones are the comfiest sneaks I’ve ever had. You might have guessed it, I also own another pair that are simpler. They too are comfortable and cool.
I wanted to share with you guys about these shoes as I think everyone else should find a pair, whether it be D.A.T.E. ones or not that are comfy AND cute. Not one or the other! You shouldn’t have to sacrifice your feet for a good looking pair of sneakers! Find some that keep your feet comfortable, while also being nice and casual, not trashy. Ones that fit your everyday style or for when you run errands on the weekends.
Even if you’re a minimalist like me, I think having a few accessories that make a look more interesting are a must! No dull outfits here! For me, shoes are considered my accessories as I’m not one to wear bright jewelry or scarves very often. Shoes are used as a statement piece for me in some of my style as I love shoes just as much as I love my clothes.
Hope you were inspired by how I styled my outfit with my statement sneaks! I was going for a very casual look for those weekends you spend with friends and family in a chill environment, whether that be the movies or in the bookstore. I found this green button up in the men’s section online at Cotton On as I wanted something I could layer with. I also prefer it longer so I can tuck it in, tie it, wear it unbuttoned, etc. Don’t limit yourself to only women’s clothing, since there are a lot of good basics in the men’s section as well! As long as you remember what look you’re trying to create. I like making outfits with minimal, classic, sometimes girly, bit edgy, military inspired style. My bottoms are somewhat military or motto looking, while my top is a classic supima cotton tee.
Last note: I read somewhere that a blogger who doesn’t put her face in the photos often, does this because she wants her photos to be about the clothes, not about her trying to be a model, since she admits she is not one. I totally agree with her! I can’t quite remember who it was and don’t want to say if it isn’t who I think it was, so I was inspired by her and want to do something similar. Therefore, I’ll be only showing my face in photos occasionally as I agree with what she said, that the photos are about the clothes. I’m not looking to act like a model, plus I don’t to be one. I’d rather be a role model/advocate for good change in the fashion industry by supporting sustainable fashion. Style for me, is about expressing yourself by being creative in what you decide to wear, having fun, wearing brands you support that may also help charities or wonderful organizations, functionality, originality, etc. I think I’ll make another post about what style means to me so that you can further understand. It’ll be fun!
