Hello all! I’ve had my eye on some of W3LL PEOPLE’s makeup products for quite some time, that I finally purchased a few when I was in need of a new mascara and eyeliner. I didn’t want just any mascara and liner in my now smaller makeup stash, I wanted simple ones. Meaning, beauty items with less or better ingredients.
Why? I can tell you a few main reasons real quick to why I’m going to be looking and sharing with you guys more simple skincare and makeup. For one, I’ve become more informed of the ingredients put into makeup. Some aren’t the best, some are. Also, I have sensitive skin and want products that contain less ingredients, with more ingredients for sensitive skin that most likely won’t break me out too. Another reason why is due to the fact that I’m aspiring to live a more minimalistic lifestyle. Minimalism has no strict definition, anyone can interpret it in a way that works best for them. So, having less products overall reduces the risk of feeling overwhelmed by choice and simplifies life. Some may say they enjoy having loads of options, others prefer to stick with the tried and true products they love, and some like having a bit of both – enough variety, but not too much. I’ll go into more detail in a future post solely on my switch to simpler beauty.
Now, this doesn’t mean I will only use all products that do not EVER contain any somewhat questionable ingredients, but it does mean I will be a more conscious consumer. I’ll be saying this often, and those who know me hear it sometimes too that it’s about living the 80/20 rule in almost all aspects of life, particularly with style and beauty.
What W3LL PEOPLE makeup does not contain: “petrochemicals, artificial preservatives, GMO, parabens, dyes, fragrance, sulphates, pthalates, glycols, nano particles” — quoted from website.
I had really high hopes for this WELL PEOPLE mascara since it has a few beauty awards and good ratings. Let’s just say my expectations were a little too high considering it’s a more natural mascara. I do like it, but I don’t love it due to the way it doesn’t only stay on my lashes. I acknowledge how it is not waterproof mascara, which I may end up having to get as I continue to see most mascaras I’ve used make their way under my eyes, giving me a bit of a raccoon look. I’ll put it this way, this isn’t smudge proof, especially if you have oily prone skin like me. So you’ll need to double check in the mirror every few hours or so to make sure it’s still in place.
Other than that, I like the consistency when applying it to my lashes and the way it makes my lashes look. That exceeded my expectations, just not the product as a whole. Once again, I also love how W3LL PEOPLE has created non-toxic makeup, let alone a pretty dang good mascara without using loads of ingredients. I do want to address how not all chemicals in makeup products are harmful. Some work better than natural products. I have noted this previously, but want to bring it up again how some natural ingredients are actually more toxic than chemical ones. That’s why it is good to be aware of what you’re using. More likely than not, beauty companies tend to use ingredients that do not have much harm, but may a bit in the long run. It’s pretty impossible to measure though and I don’t think we should be focusing with a fear based mentality, but a conscious, skeptical one. W3LL PEOPLE claims to not use any potentially toxic ingredients so you can feel good about what you’re using on your face.

The applicator itself is nice, but could be better. I notice how it has an excessive amount of the product on the applicator every time you put it in the product. A little goes a long way and there is no need to dip for more product for one eye as twice is enough for both eyes. I’ve found that when I’m first applying the product, I use the excess in the middle part right above my lash line instead of starting at the inner corner, or else it’d be too thick of a line. Once I do that, I can line my eyes with the eyeliner thin enough for a more natural look and build it up for a thicker line.
As with most liquid eyeliners, I have to lightly apply a powder or primer on my eyelids to reduce the eyeliner from smearing onto my eyelids. That is also true with this one, but I always do this anyway while I put powder on my face to keep my makeup in place and lasting longer. I really like this eyeliner! I do not rely on it as an all day smear proof eyeliner though, as it does budge after a few hours or more. Not the longest lasting eyeliner out there, but once again it doesn’t claim to be a long wearing one in the first place. I wear this on a day when I know I’ll always have a few minutes every now and again to touch up. Otherwise, I go for a long wearing one.
